Metroid Other M : Walkthrough Guide

Some consider it cheating but I quite like having walkthroughs available when playing a game.
This one is text only , but the linear nature of Other M means that isnt really a problem
(compared to Metroid Prime series which was free flow and very easy to get lost/have no idea where to go next)

completed Dead Space Extraction on Normal

yep indeedy, around 8-10 hrs playing time to the end.
pretty easy and only got killed 3 times I reckon, a lot easier that Metroid Prime Trilogy.
BUT thats only on 'Normal' , so I reckon it gets very hard very quickly going up a bit on the level difficulty.....

its a fantastic game though , the controls work well, speed and graphics are brilliant. only couple of times the frame rate slowed in heavy battles.
very immersive story , and pretty creepy if you play it at night with the lights off.

8/10 , buy it ...

I spent many a long evening playing Metroid Prime (Number 3 out of the series and the only Wii title) bought for a bargain £10 from ebay.

Nintendo have now ported the Gamecube Metroid 1+2 to the Wii with the superb Wii controls and also tweaked it a bit , as well as that they throw in Prime too.

So three games for the price of one.

Cant wait to start playing 1 and 2 now , its gonna be a long month lol
For those new to the Wii or never played any of the Metroid series its a must try.

All three games scored 10s for presentation and nothing has changed, including the horsepower between GameCube and Wii. The entire series is still slicker in every regard than most Wii titles.

Amazing. The first time you see the snow falling in Phendrana Drift, your jaw will drop. Retro's art and tech combine for an amazing visual experience.

Moody and ambient throughout. Some of the voice acting in Corruption could be a little tighter, but otherwise your ears will be happy.
10 Gameplay
Absolutely incredible. The very essence of the 2D Metroid games reborn in 3D. With the new controls, you won't want to put your Wii remote down.
10 Lasting Appeal
More than 80 hours of some of the best interactive adventuring that money can buy. For the price of a regular Wii game.

I have resisted playing it until I have completed more in Grand Slam Tennis

What a superb game , the learning curves a bit steep but its worth it.
One of the first games to use the WiiMotionPlus attachment, seems to work well.
Can be temperamental but you get used to it. The online modes are great, no lag. And I love the cartoon interpretation of the famous players.

Its gonna have to keep me occupied as "The Conduit" has just been delayed again until mid July!

I can scarcely believe it, over the last few months I have been enjoying playing Metroid Prime 3 : Corruption (Wii), getting to 86% completed and 'almost' completing the 3 bosses on the final level. A stunning game that had me hooked for hours that I was loathed to put down

It looks like I am know going to get a chance to play the first 2 on the Wii very soon .......woohooooo

Its a great few months for the Wii , Punch Out! , then theres Wii Sports Resort , The Conduit and now MP Trilogy all coming out before Xmas ....


Nintendo today announced the Metroid Prime Trilogy bundle, a compilation of the two GameCube Metroid Prime titles and the Wii's Prime 3, for release on August 24.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
Priced at $49.99, the collection puts all three games on the same disc, with Metroid Prime 1 and 2 updated to utilize the motion-centric Wii controls of Metroid Prime 3. Unlockable rewards, including music and artwork, have also been added.

Nintendo was clear that "each game maintains its original storyline and settings" as most of the changes relate to controls or graphics, with Retro Studios, which developed the entire first-person adventure trilogy, having handled the compilation. The first Prime entry hit GameCube in 2002, with the second in 2004 and MP3 debuting on Wii in 2007.




In Japan, Nintendo has released the Metroid Prime games on Wii as part of the “New Play Control” series of enhanced GameCube titles. In the U.S., the strategy for these first-person shooters is different: They’ll be packaged together with the 2007 Wii sequel on a single disc called Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Although we’ll have to wait longer than Japanese consumers for the game, which will be available on August 24, the price tag of only $50 for all three critically-acclaimed sci-fi adventures is a much better deal.

I played the Japanese version of Metroid Prime when it shipped earlier this year, and played Metroid Prime 2 later at Nintendo’s offices. The games have been fully upgraded with all of the bells and whistles that the Wii brings — full motion control and 16:9 widescreen display being the most obvious enhancements.

But there are also some smaller upgrades. The “ball hop” — the ability to make Samus Aran’s Morph Ball form jump in the air with a quick flick of the Wiimote — has been retrofitted into both of the earlier games.

Nintendo said the games also have shorter loading times, and some mildly updated graphical effects like bloom lighting.

Badges — achievements for completing certain game objectives — have also been added in to the GameCube titles. The badges for all three games are combined in one overarching bonus menu, instead of being split up per title. This means that you can unlock the same set of bonus materials (artwork galleries, etc.) no matter which game you play.

The Metroid Prime 3 control scheme is fully replicated in each of the classic games — you can adjust the sensitivity of the cursor and turn on “Lock-On Free Aim” if you want more control over your aiming.

The only downside that I can see is that the multiplayer mode in Metroid Prime 2 hasn’t been taken online. I played a few rounds with Nintendo employees at a recent visit to their office, and it’s still far from Halo-caliber multiplayer, although it does work a lot better with pointer-style controls versus the GameCube controller.

a old game updated for the Wii, we all know how much of a recipe for disaster this can be, however thats way off the mark in this case.
What an absolute blast, and in my opinion different and better than Wii Sports Boxing.
From the very offset , graphics (for the Wii!) and sound are impressive and work well together. Menu navigation is quick and 'punchy' between screens, with few if any delays.(usually only after a fight ends)
Ok some can be blocky (480p with cable) but thats to be expected and in no way detracts from the game. In game graphics while fighting are top notch and very slick.Each new release shows just how much better developers are at getting the best from the Wii.

Controls work well (nunchuck and wiimote together) as I preferred to be more involved in the game, havent yet tried pad only. Your arms still hurt lol.
Just throwing your arms around isnt going to win you any fights in this game. Tactical assessment of your opponent them whallop them in the weak spots.

A thoroughly enjoyable game that surprised me. Great for all ages.

Playing Metroid Prime 3 Corruption on the Wii at the moment.
Its 10/10 for me , graphics and gameplay are awesome, and remember this is an old game (2007), can be bought for £10 from ebay

Probably one of the hardest things to currently get for the Wii.
All initial stock sold out within minutes of release.
Any new stock which does become available is snapped up in minutes.

Game so far is really good , as ever excellently thought out.
The ski jumping is my favourite but the strength exercises are too bloody hard!

Not a substitute for real exercise but good nonetheless.

Wii picture quality

Theres me happily playing Super Mario Galaxy , when a usual web surfing night takes me down the route of picture quality from the Wii !

Funnily enough I always though it was a bit 'soft' but reckoned that was just the way the Wii was!

It turns out using the standard supplied 'composite' cable (3 plugs , 1 video , 2 sound either with or without the SCART adapter), the only 2 options available in the Wii Menu picture settings are 576i[50Hz] or 480i[60Hz].

Using the std cable I got the best picture using the first setting 576i

However the 2 links below show the difference that may be achievable using a 'component' cable (5 plugs , 3 video , 2 sound)

You MUST have a TV that supports component in , so check that first.
Its dead easy

1. Swap the cables over

2. Plug the 3 component picture leads into your component in plugs (for pioneer that was Input2)

now at this point I incorrectly plugged the other 2 leads into the 'output' connections on the back of the tv!!! NO SOUND obviously , it didnt seem obvious so I did some surfing....and the solution is...

3. In order to get sound you also need to use the SCART adapter supplied originally with your Wii and plug the 2 audio leads into that then plug the adapter into the SCART input for the same src channel (for me that was Input 2)

[note if you use surround sound or a system be aware you may need another make of cable(madcatz etc) that has longer runs for the audio cables to reach something other than the TV inputs!]

4. Ensure the settings for the TV are correct , for the 427XD , I needed to adjust the src to be 'component' otherwise there was no picture.
It should also be noted the TV does not seem to 'auto' switch channels using this input method.

5. Switch on the Wii and enter the menu.
With the component cable connected the additional option of '480p[EDTV]' is available , select that.

Now sit back and enjoy a better picture.
Personally I could definitely see a difference and reckon IT IS worth it.
Remember its still not true HD , just better.
The 'perspective' and 3D feel within Super Mario Galaxy is just sooo much better.

without the web I would never have known this option even existed!
