Bike had new tyres from the recent service see https://johnoldfield.blogspot.com/2024/12/bmw-s1000r-yearly-service-2024.html
Of note the dipped beam bulb (H7) had also failed at some point so that needed to be replaced before the MOT. Did it myself, easy job just need to have tiny fingers!
I got 2 replacements again (1 to replace and 1 to keep as spare) from ledperf (note they come from france so can take 3-4 days postage)
2 x Xenon Effect bulbs pack for BMW Motorrad S 1000 R (2017 - 2020) headlights (FEUXS1000RWH) = 13.80€
- Low-beam headlights (Marque : Michiba Diamond White)
(Of note the bulb has lasted just over 2 years, I changed to whiter still halogen bulbs (sidelights(LED) dipped and main beam and added an angel eye to the bike in Aug 2022)
The bulb / housing gets very hot for the dipped beam, be careful not to ever leave it covered (or tape for a track day!) or the reflector/lense will get burnt/damaged.
I have not moved to LED dipped as it effects the beam pattern badly.
Easy to change, one bolt to remove and get your fingers in...
Back to the MOT
Finally booked into Northwest Motorcycles using their handy ability to book online for a slot that suits you. They have great reviews and the normal place I go was closed.
So booked for Jan 3rd which as it turned out matched a cold weather front and freezing/black ice conditions in my area. Luckily it started to rain and the temperature increased enough to thaw the roads! Dont forget I was also on the new tyres as yet not bedded in
I dont mind going out in most weathers but I draw the line at snow and black ice....
Heated gloves on max setting ( RST Paragon 6 I got as an early Xmas present) I ventured off for the MOT.
Slow journey but fine, heavens opened on the way so I got drenched too, lovely.
Note the fully legal UK numberplate (and reflector)
So between MOT's thats
21 December 2023 16,604 miles
to
3 January 2025 19,595 miles
2991 miles in period
