Golf gti edition 30 rear brake pad expired , disconnect seat chime
Started to make grinding noise from rear. Thought it was a stone in caliper, but on inspection could see the outer pad was down to the backing! Short term I have fitted some mintex rear pads for £16 off eBay.
Caliper was very stiff ends rubber boot damaged so will need caliper refurb or replacement.
Also disconnected the seat sensor as the alarm kept going off at random times during my commute!

Golf GTI Edition 30 : PCV replacement
2007 Mk5 Edition 30
As at 2018 the current is
114,000 miles
Never been replaced so this was the version from the factory.
- Engine Cover off
- disconnect 2 vaccum lines
- undo 4 bolts and replace (i kept the old pcv gasket)
While replacing, I did try blowing/sucking the old and new valves.
Interestingly the old valve appeared to seal ok (in fact even better than the new one!) but when fitted it solved the problem.
